Consul Dr Maurizio Bragagni officially received his OBE

On  31st of January 2023, Consul Bragagni received during an official ceremony the insignia of OBE (Officer of the British Empire) of the United Kingdom. This honour was granted to Dr Bragagni in June 2021 by the late Queen Elizabeth II for business and voluntary political services for the benefit of the British community.

The ceremony was presided over by The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor Nicholas Stephen Leland Lyons at the historic Mansion House palace, with the participation of many distinguished guests, including the Consul General of Italy, Mr Domenico Bellantone.

The Lord Mayor himself received and awarded Dr Bragagni, pinning the medal on his chest. The event was also historic for the Lord Mayor, who is the first mayor, in 694 years of office history, to personally award a citizen with the OBE title.

The Lord Mayor of the City of London is the head of the City of London Corporation, the governing body of the Square Mile dedicated to a vibrant and thriving City, supporting a diverse and sustainable London within a globally-successful UK. Elected annually, the Lord Mayor of the City of London is an international ambassador for the UK’s financial and professional services sector. Within the City, the Lord Mayor is accorded precedence over all individuals except the sovereign and retains various traditional powers, rights, and privileges, including the title and style The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of London.

The OBE award is a recognition of the outstanding contribution and merits of  Dr Bragagni, not only as a businessman but as well as the Honorary Consul of San Marino to the UK. It will further motivate Consul Bragagni to strengthen friendly relations between the UK and San Marino and promote & protect the best interests of San Marino and its citizens in the UK.
