Information about a UK company

Companies House is a government-run organisation that incorporates and dissolves limited companies. It registers basic company and director information and creates a public record on Companies House WebCHeck, amongst other online services. Millions of professionals use this register of companies and the financial, structural and event-based data held to inform business decisions on a daily basis.

You can get some details about a company for free, including:

  • company information, for example registered address and date of incorporation
  • current and resigned officers
  • document images
  • mortgage charge data
  • previous company names
  • insolvency information

You can also set up free email alerts to tell you when a company updates its details (for example, a change of director or address).

Search the bankruptcy and insolvency register

Anyone who has a bankruptcy order (‘undischarged bankrupts’), a debt relief order or bankruptcy restrictions is banned from being the director of a company.

You can search for details of people who have gone bankrupt or signed an agreement to deal with their debts in England and Wales.
