Congratulations to the newest Knights of the Order of St Agatha

It gives such great satisfaction to announce on the 15th of November 2023 Consul Prof Maurizio Bragagni Esq OBE presided over the Award Ceremony of the Order of St Agatha. The ceremony was held at the prestigious In&Out Naval Military Club and in attendance were the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps at the Court of St James’s the Ambassador of Honduras, His Excellency Mr Ivan Romero-Martines, concurrently serving as the Dean of the Latin American Diplomatic Corps, other members of the diplomatic corps, Knights of the Order of St Agatha, several MPs and academics, and many Sammarinese citizen resident in the UK.

The event greatly benefited from the participation and leading role during the ceremony of Cav Dr Ing Paolo Rondelli, an MP from San Marino who previously served as Captain Regent.

The Equestrian Order of Saint Agatha is a State Order established by the Grand and General Council of the Republic of San Marino on 5 June 1923. It is bestowed upon foreign nationals who have made significant and positive contributions through charitable endeavours or outstanding civil or military services to the Republic. It is also awarded for humanitarian, artistic, political, or sporting accomplishments.

During the ceremony, there were recognised the outstanding merits of three distinguished individuals:

Dr  Lisa Cameron MP, Cavaliere (Dame) of the Equestrian Order of St Agatha

The Republic of San Marino recognised the merits of Dr Lisa Cameron MP, Vice-chair of the APPG on San Marino, in supporting the freedom of the Republic during the Covid-19 emergency and advancing the parliamentarian cooperation and use of the parliamentarian dimension to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the UK and San Marino.

In particular, the Republic recognised her outstanding contribution since 2015 as Chair of the Disability All Party Parliamentary group. Dr Cameron has never spared an effort to bring positive change in the lives of so many disabled people and campaigning for “right at the top” change to help increase the representation of people with disabilities in politics.

The Republic of San Marino recognised the merits of Mrs Sheryll Murray MP as Vice-chair of the APPG on San Marino, in supporting the freedom of the Republic during the Covid-19 emergency and advancing the parliamentarian cooperation between the UK and San Marino.

In particular, the Republic recognised her excellent work in supporting the APPG work and the Consulate in promoting and supporting San Marino’s best interests in the UK and strengthening political dialogue and bilateral cooperation.

Avv. Gerardo Aprovitolo, Cavaliere (Knight) of the Equestrian Order of St Agatha

The Republic recognised the merits of Avv. Aprovitolo in assisting the Honorary Consulate to mobilise help for the Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well in providing free legal consultancy to San Marino citizens resident in the UK and commercial companies of both countries.

The Republic acknowledged his merits for providing free legal services to Sammarinese citizens since February 2020. He has also been providing legal assistance to UK business representatives who wish to invest in San Marino’s economy, particularly in the sectors of renewable energy, education, and transport.
