In today’s interconnected world, migration continues to present complex challenges that require thoughtful, cooperative solutions.
Within the framework of the Conservative Party Conference, Consul Bragagni participated in a distinguished panel of international experts, convened under the leadership of The Rt Hon Dame Priti Patel MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs; The Rt Hon Chris Philp MP, Shadow Home Secretary; and Dr Notis Mitarachi MP, Former Greek Minister of Citizen Protection and Minister of Migration and Asylum. The panel examined the complex drivers of irregular migration and discussed collaborative strategies to promote balanced and sustainable immigration policies.

The discussion examined both the push factors—including economic disparities, political instability, and conflict—and the pull factors that influence migration patterns. This comprehensive approach underscored the transnational nature of migration, highlighting the need for policies informed by global perspectives and mutual understanding.
Participants emphasised the importance of evidence-based and holistic strategies that address the underlying causes of migration while respecting the principles of human dignity and international cooperation. The panel highlighted that effective migration management requires a careful balance: ensuring border security, promoting safe and legal migration pathways, and fostering the social and economic integration of migrants.
A central theme of the discussion was the value of international cooperation. By sharing expertise, coordinating policies, and supporting development initiatives in countries of origin, states can collectively mitigate the risks associated with irregular migration while strengthening the resilience of affected communities.

The insights generated during this dialogue serve as a testament to the critical role of diplomacy and multilateral engagement in addressing migration challenges. Consul Bragagni emphasised that migration, while complex, offers opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefit. Also, his participation reflects a commitment to fostering constructive dialogue, promoting shared solutions, and supporting policies that are equitable, sustainable, and globally informed.
