A Meeting of Vision and Purpose in Advancing Interfaith Dialogue

In a timely and highly constructive meeting on 24 January 2026, Consul Professor Maurizio Bragagni met with Dr Murtaza Samiwala, International Private Secretary to His Holiness Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Saheb TUS, spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community in the UK, at Dr Samiwala’s request. The discussion focused on the vital role of interfaith dialogue in promoting understanding, coexistence, and moral leadership at a time when the world is increasingly marked by political, cultural, and religious polarisation.

The discussions were frank and focused on the importance of interfaith dialogue in today’s highly polarised world. Framed as an act of conscience rather than diplomacy, such initiatives emphasise shared values of peace, compassion, coexistence, and responsibility toward the vulnerable. Letters exchanged between the interfaith leaders, including a Christmas message, highlight these common moral principles, affirming that love, humility, and service transcend doctrine and geography.

Such dialogue reflects the unique role of faith leaders as custodians of values, promoting unity and moral leadership beyond their immediate communities. In an era often marked by division, these conversations demonstrate that dialogue rooted in faith is not weakness; it is courage and a vital force for global harmony.
