Strengthening Bonds Through Culture: Reflections on a Historic Guinness World Record

The Consulate of the Republic of San Marino to the United Kingdom is proud to reflect on an extraordinary moment of cultural celebration, collaboration, and generosity that unfolded in London on 25–26 April 2026.

The official Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Tiramisù, reaching an astonishing 440.58 metres, was far more than a culinary achievement. It was a vivid demonstration of what can be accomplished when tradition, innovation, and shared purpose come together. Hosted at Chelsea Old Town Hall, the event brought together chefs, volunteers, institutions, and supporters from across Italy and the United Kingdom, creating a powerful symbol of unity between our nations.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr Mirko Ricci of Complitaly TV and his dedicated team, whose vision and leadership transformed this ambitious idea into a historic reality. Their decision to designate the Fondazione Esharelife as the beneficiary of funds raised adds a profound humanitarian dimension to this achievement, ensuring that its legacy will extend well beyond the record itself.

This initiative also showcased the excellence of Italian craftsmanship and the strength of international cooperation. From the contributions of culinary associations such as the Italian Culinary Consortium and the Federazione Italiana Cuochi UK, to the support of distinguished partners and institutions, the event stood as a testament to the enduring value of cultural exchange.

We are equally grateful for the presence and support of Members of Parliament and the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) -San Marino members who attended. Their engagement underscores the importance of fostering cultural diplomacy and strengthening the ties that bind our communities together.

The Consulate also acknowledges the role of institutions such as the Embassy of Italy in London and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the UK, whose support reflects the deep and lasting relationship between Italy and the United Kingdom.

Beyond its scale and spectacle, this record-breaking tiramisù carried a message of gratitude and friendship, symbolised by the dedication to King Charles III, a heartfelt “Grazie Your Majesty” from the Italian community.

This was not merely a record. It was a celebration of identity, solidarity, and shared values. It reaffirmed London’s place as a global crossroads of culture and creativity, and it highlighted the role that initiatives like this can play in building bridges between nations.

The Consulate of San Marino is honoured to have supported this remarkable endeavour and looks forward to continuing to promote initiatives that unite communities, celebrate excellence, and contribute meaningfully to society.
