{"id":2092,"date":"2022-10-06T17:05:03","date_gmt":"2022-10-06T16:05:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.consolatosanmarino.uk\/?p=2092"},"modified":"2024-01-17T11:01:03","modified_gmt":"2024-01-17T11:01:03","slug":"consul-maurizio-bragagni-obe-met-with-representatives-of-the-jersey-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.consolatosanmarino.uk\/en\/news\/consul-maurizio-bragagni-obe-met-with-representatives-of-the-jersey-government\/","title":{"rendered":"Consul Maurizio Bragagni OBE met with representatives of the Jersey Government"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 6<sup>th<\/sup> October 2022, Consul Dr Maurizio Bragagni OBE met with Miss Tatum Burgess, Head of European Relations, Government of Jersey, at their office in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was organised by the Consulate aiming at assessing the opportunities of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jersey is a self-governing&nbsp;parliamentary democracy&nbsp;under the British Crown, with its own&nbsp;financial,&nbsp;legal,&nbsp;and&nbsp;judicial&nbsp;systems, and the power of&nbsp;self-determination.&nbsp;Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, between England and France and has an international identity separate from that of the UK,<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jersey#cite_note-gov.je-27\">]<\/a><\/sup>&nbsp;but the UK is constitutionally responsible for the defence of Jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"756\" height=\"1012\" src=\"https:\/\/www.consolatosanmarino.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2022\/10\/Meeting-with-Jersey.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2094\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.consolatosanmarino.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2022\/10\/Meeting-with-Jersey.jpg 756w, https:\/\/www.consolatosanmarino.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2022\/10\/Meeting-with-Jersey-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/www.consolatosanmarino.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2022\/10\/Meeting-with-Jersey-9x12.jpg 9w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 756px) 100vw, 756px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Consul Bragagni briefly informed the counterpart about history, tradition, culture and current place of San Marino in the international arena, highlight the importance of defending freedom and the rule based international order. He mentioned a wide spectrum of opportunities to cooperate with Jersey, emphasizing the similarities, including challenges and priorities, of small countries in today\u2019s world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miss Burgess, after expressing the appreciation for this meeting, informed about the past and current political &amp; societal developments of Jersey and highlighted some particularities of Jersey as a self-governing\u00a0territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, both counterparts discussed on the ways how the two countries can boost the bilateral cooperation, ranging from exchange of official visits from government and business representatives and concluding a friendship \u00a0MoU, to signing economic agreements and branding the small states in the international forums. \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 6th October 2022, Consul Dr Maurizio Bragagni OBE met with Miss Tatum Burgess, Head of European Relations, Government of Jersey, at their office in London.
