{"id":1246,"date":"2021-03-13T10:37:52","date_gmt":"2021-03-13T10:37:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.consolatosanmarino.uk\/?page_id=1246"},"modified":"2024-01-17T11:04:17","modified_gmt":"2024-01-17T11:04:17","slug":"union-with-partner-or-visit-to-family","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.consolatosanmarino.uk\/en\/union-with-partner-or-visit-to-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Union with partner or visit to family"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you are staying in the UK for an extended period of time to reunite with your partner or to visit family, you may need a visa depending on how long you will be in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You do not need a visa if you are visiting your family or partner for 6 months or less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the family member you are joining is from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein, you may be able to apply for a free family permit. This will make your entry to the UK quicker and easier. Your family member must have settled in the UK before 1 January 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you intend to stay longer than 6 months, the visa you will need to apply for will depend on your family member&#8217;s situation. If your application is successful, you will be able to work or study in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your family has settled in the UK you are able to apply for a family visa if your family member or partner<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>is a British citizen<\/li><li>is resident in the UK (called &#8216;indefinite leave to remain&#8217;)<\/li><li>has resident or quasi-resident status under the EU Settlement Scheme<\/li><li>has a visa as a Turkish worker or businessman&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your family member must be your partner, child, parent or relative who will provide long-term care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your family are working or studying in the UK you will be able to apply as a &#8216;dependant&#8217; on your parent or partner&#8217;s visa if they are working or studying in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your family member has been living in the UK since before 1 January 2021, instead of applying for a visa you may be able to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme free of charge. Your immediate family member must be a citizen of an EU country, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein (or a British citizen who has lived with you in one of these countries) or must have settled in the UK before 1 January 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply for the EU Settlement Scheme outside the UK, you must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>be a national of an EU country, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein or<\/li><li>have a relevant UK document &#8211; such as a residence card, permanent residence card or derivative residence card.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Otherwise, you will need to apply for a free family permit to come to the UK.
